Can we get some guesstimations on how many unique items the Tome has taken on in its coverage? This would include all archive departments and research forums. _________________

Sorry for the confusion, Kynan. I was looking for the possible total number of unique/individual items that could potentially get some exposure on the Tome's coverage.
TSR -- 12,000 items?
WoTC -- 4,000 items?
RPG -- 25,000 items?
Fanzine -- 8,000 items?
Wargame -- ?
Convention items -- >1000 items?
Miniature items -- 5000 items? (sounds low)
Art research -- wildcard depending on the extent of sharing. I am guessing less than 50% of artwork survives with perhaps only 3% of that in the hands of collectors who understand what they have. _________________

Oh, I get it. The potential is tens of thousands certainly within the first five years. I'm guessing that if the people who are posting now finish posting their collections we'll have 10,000 unique items at least to offer. Of course, there'll be errors here and there in the Research forums, but everything is subject to scrutiny and testing. Anyone with variant data can bring it into the dialogue immediately by posting what they have for comparison. I do not trust written or oral reports of this and that (human memory is unreliable as a point of reference), but I do trust the physical item (to a point). That's what I want to see here.
As for the total unique item potential for our categories, there are probably 100-150K items that can be added. I'd guess that the miniatures area will hold the most items once that section takes off. _________________ "This is cool."

Large enough numbers to want to go hide somewhere?
Good question...

I sincerely hope those two are highish since I never want to have 16,000 TSR/WoTC items kicking around here...
> Fanzine -- 8,000 items?
Rolling all circulated 'zines within scope together the tally is probably well over 30,000.
S&T, TSR/TD, O&W/WD, Graustark and A&E total ~2,000 for a start.

The tally is pretty scary.
By analogy, a gentle cycle ride, perhaps...?
*nods*. A shout on $/hosting would be appreciated for ref. since would feel guilty if freeloading too much on that side as well. Hopefully not too much of a burden, since the project is more Mb than Mb/s... Kudos.

Quite low actually, I have over 10,000 different minis both packaged and loose and I still feel like I have a load to go. I am getting around to creating a list this year!! _________________ Games can get you through times of no money but money can not get you through times of no games.

Have you published your collection anywhere yet? It would be awesome if you would consider the Tome as your primary or secondary platform. _________________

I imagine that the miniature section will be quite popular, especially the "Can you identify this mini for me please" thread. I have a few hundred, mostly undead, that I collected when I was still playing. Minis were so affordable back in the day when cash was tight. There might have been 40-50K different minis produced over the years, starting with the wargaming boys. Maybe more. It will be like going to school watching the thousands of minis that will get posted here. I can't wait!!!
I'm looking forward to seeing all of that great cover art on those Grenadiers sets! _________________ "This is cool."

I've picked up several excellent sets of Grenadier figures on and off eBay over the past few months, and can certainly work on scans for them too, at some point. _________________ grodog

I know Egg_of_Coot was working on posting the Grenadier boxed sets up on Dragonsfoot and I think he was going to put them on his own website too. I should see how he's doing with that and if he'd post them here as well.

It will take me quite some time to get it published but this is my plan. I will start within the next few months and my minis get liberated from there storage boxes and such.(Presently working on completing my basement) My collection spans most of the licensed D&D, AD&D collection as well as companies like Ral Partha, Games Workshop, Grenadier etc etc. I have some very rare pieces as well.
I really look forward to taking pictures of the boxes and packs and listing them on Tome of Treasures. This is the exact platform I have always wanted to have to be able to display and foster the collecting community for miniatures. I plan on showing different printings and packaging as well (for the ones I have that is). Miniature collecting is huge, probably bigger than RPG collecting right now and there is not any great forums available to help foster the hobby (there are some but they are rarely updated and do not include forums etc).
If anybody here is interested in painted minis check out my better half’s website:
