Lofenloc's "reign of buying" continues...
These things go in cycles. Every few years a collector with resources comes along and pays what seems like at the time crazy money for stuff. I did it for awhile just as others have done. But it does come at a price. Ebay is addictive, like crack or Headline News or the cellphone. People can lose their perspective. I did. My garage is full of things I'll never use or play, which is why I've been selling some stuff. When it gets to the point that a person cannot store their collection safely and responsibly, then they have a problem. If a person has people that they care about, it seems a no-brainer not to stick them with getting rid of your collection should something happen. It would be terrible for them. That's what happened to my cousin. He came into a sizable inheritance and lived alone. He started collecting Navajo rugs. Well, he passed away and his family is stuck with piles and piles of rugs to get rid of. It's awful. I don't want my wife and kids trapped into having to go through my collection and deal with the bottom-feeders of the hobby. They deserve better. _________________ "This is cool."

In general, no: I was very unimpressed with the system, or their "hackified" versions of the classic modules. The only exceptions were that I thought their expansion of B2---"Little Keep on the Borderlands"---was pretty good, and G1-3 wasn't bad; they also published about half of RJK's City of Brass too (which was very lightly hackified compared to the classic TSR modules).

All in all, I'd pass on the stuff truthfully.
The one nice thing about Hackmaster is that it can be found fairly cheap. I picked up about 15 books for $1 each and have bought another 10 or so for under $5. I don't mind paying this price just for the covers.
