That's the second time it goes for ~$50. Part of the Sutherland auctions earlier that year were two different beach towels (Blue Dragon and Wyrm), and Mentzer himself bought them for nearly $100.

It is one if the most hardcore items I ever saw. So far, only the yellow plastic wallet beats its cheapness.

The original catalog tShirts are also frustratingly rare from circa 1980.

I guess no one had any money left over for them after their initial gaming book purchases during that time period. $50 for a beach towel is quite amazing.

I have to think of other odd items.
