frost_2000 (terminal_frost on Acaeum forum) just sold a shrinkwrapped H1 with a BIN for $140: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5182135871&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

Interestingly, he bought one in shrinkwrap not long ago.

Edit: Typo.

This is one item that belongs in the Vanity category. A listing of items that are not rare in terms of numbers yet command a high dollar amount in auction consistently.

There are several examples of these types of items that would include chtuhlu deites and Karatur as examples. I am sure I just butchered some spellings.

I agree with that, but H1 is really a good example. Karatur is rarer, at least SW (and I don't say that because I have a Karatur and no H1... Twisted Evil )
Cthulhu Deithies is so common that you can find a $30 copy easily, with just a bit of patience. That's not possible for a H1, at least for now, and I tried !

I own none of these items. I had always expected the market to relax significantly but I am shocked they are holding strong after all of these years. The Cthulhu Deites is an exception to the rule but not across the board. It will sometimes still fetch a decent price.

I am tempted to include the R series in this discussion as well. There is always 1 or 2 up for sale and they consistently seem to command more than what they are truly worth. However, after years of watching the prices hold I cannot confidently say they are not worth what I think they should be. Again, I do not own any of the R series as I have been waiting for the prices to relax. I guess it is getting time to bite the bullet.

As far as the H1 goes. I suspect the market has been greatly influenced by the one called Cougerrinard. On a microscale one could argue his bidding up each and everyone of them has created the condition. Perhaps one day the market will overwhelm his intentions.

5 am in the morning, I'm working through the night and have time to snipe this used booklet from H1 for $3.75. Now I can finally read it! I have a shrinkwrapped copy, which is my treasure... I always wanted to know about the battle. Maybe something for my group? (Shhh.. Chris, you didn't read that, ok?)

I am wondering if this would be available for purchase in PDF? I know it isn't the same as an original and for that reason I prefer original copies.

From the introduction to H1 (for the DM):

"(...) If you use characters from your existing campaign, you must arrange for them to lose everything except their three favorite magical items and a purse full of gold pieces (no more than 100 gp).
Most players will not object to this, since characters tend to accumulate a lot of minor magic items of limited use."

Remember, this is an adventure for character levels 15+! I find this unbelievable.
