Scribe's Musings:
Inside the front cover, the issue identifies itself as " Formerly the Spartan and Cardboard Commander Incorporating the WGIG Artisan, Founded 1966".
This article regarding Gygax's Ancient Medieval Rules series seems to be the introductory. It says there is a piece in the previous month's issue but I'll be damned if I can find it. At any rate, it is suggested the miniatures to use are from Airfix Boxed Sets. More specifically Robin Hood/Sherriff/Castles sets, Wild West Indians/Wagon & Team/Wooden Fort sets, and Foreign Legion Camel Riders/Desert Fort sets. He goes on to recommend Jack Scruby as a resource for other metal miniatures that he describes as being good for painting. Recommended reading includes War Games. by Featherstone; History of the Art of War in the Middle Ages (2 vols) by Oman; War Commentaries of Caesar, trans. by Warner; Decisive Battles. by Creasy; Hannibal, the Crusades, etc. by Lamb _________________
