Labor Day in the states, marks the end of summer vacationing. But this weekend counts as one of my favorites, none-the-less). Have a great weekend everyone! _________________

The beginning of college football
I'll take a pass on that. I did my doctoral work at UNL and every Saturday the city of Lincoln would turn red. The worse part were all of the dually pick-up trucks that would roll into town with giant rubber testicles hanging off the back. _________________ "This is cool."

We were considering heading up to KC to visit with family and friends, but will spend a hopefully-quiet weekend at home, doing not-too-much, and some yard/housework. I'll get some more gaming organizing done, and perhaps paint some minis with Ethan, too _________________ grodog

Nothing special this weekend, but Sept 5th is Carissa's 1st birthday, so there will be a big party at our house next Saturday.
Tiffany goes all out planning these kind of things and this year's theme is "Wild West".
Let's see . . . we had a "Mad Tea Party" for Arianna's 4th birthday, "Fiesta" for her 3rd, Tropical "Luau" for her 2nd . . . I think the themes for the upcoming years are already taken . . . _________________ "Ah, Blackadder. Started talking to yourself, I see."

It's the crowd coming in from the plains (or perhaps 'planes' would work better) that seems to be certifiable. The people in town are pretty laid back. Lincoln is a rotation point for the government, so it's a ethnically diverse crowd. Good food. Nice people. The campus itself is good place to learn.
Re: the football team
Peterson leaving is the best thing that has happened in years. I'd like them to win because it translates into money for the campus which means more scholarships for people who could really use them. Personally, I don't follow sports at all. Allowing my personal happiness to be affected by whether or not my team wins or loses would be, in a word, insane. _________________ "This is cool."

Ahh. Yet another start to the promise of another possible successful year for the Fighting Irish. But like many year before this, this will end in frustration again, guaranteed. Even if Notre Dame can assemble a winning record, they will get clobbered in their bowl game as they are always paired with a team far better than them because ND always attracts the advertising revenue. The only success us Irish fans can hope for is a team, far and away, that is the best in the country. _________________
