Like Warriors of the Dark Star, Battle for Andromeda was produced by Taurus under license from Galaxy Foundation Games, according to a GFG catalog. Battle for Andromeda was the first in GFG's strategic space series. Most of the games in this series had companion tactical games: BfA's was Warriors of the Dark Star.
A different version of the rulebook from this game - titled Andromeda Foundation Official Battle Manual - was included in their later strategic games. The different name suggests that GFG did not produce their own edition of Battle for Andromeda, but this is not certain.
The Combat Operations Plot sheet in this game was also changed for the later games in the series.
