Gen Con 19, MECCA Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
August 14-17, 1986.
This Gen Con is held at the Mecca Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were
expecting in upwards of 10,000 gamers for this event.
D&D tourney highlights include:
- Annual AD&D Open Tournaments and RPGA tourneys.
- 'Fluffy Quest' by Rick Reid. Previously published in 1984 by
Bad Dog publications. Lighthearted adventuring.
- 'Barroom Brawl" returns from early
conventions.
- 'Palace of the Silver Princess' an already
nostalgic run through a classic.
Again there are many many many different D&D
tourneys mentioned. If we get some time we
promise to return
here one day and enter in all
of the different
D&D tourneys listed in the
programs.
Speaking engagements given by Tracy Hickman
and Margeret Wise on Dragonlance. Gary Gygax
speaks on Greyhawk.
Auction is up and running again. With over 6000 items sold on auction the
previous year at Gen Con, an
Auction Shop feature is added to
alleviate some of the auction floor selling. One could place items up for
sale at a fixed price on a showroom floor. If you sell your item in the
Auction Shop you can keep 90% of the sale as opposed to 80% if sold on
the auction block. They announced in the brochure that many original
pieces of art work will be up for auction with many at a starting bid of
$100.
