This years Gen Con is located at the University of Wisconsin- Parkside for the
4th consecutive year . Parkside Association of Wargamers (PAW) and TSR
are the dual hosts this year.

D&D tournament highlights include:
- The Annual AD&D Open Tournament. Coordinated once again by
Bob Blake.
- Second Annual 'Search for the Holy Grail'.
Monty Haul by Gamelords? Based specifically
on the British TV/Movie series.
- 'Beauty and the Beast' ran by Jean Wells.
- 'Castle Garok; or the Lich's Quest'
- 'Caverns of Eternal Darkness' D&D w/ minis.
- 'Citadel of Damnation'
- 'Trial of Geheimnus' Invitational only but not the
annual Masters Tournament which appears to be
discontinued this year.
- '3D&D' Mini tourney using a large diorama with the
treasures in the diorama being the tourney prize.
- 'D&D in Pellucidar' Prehistoric world D&D adventuring based on
Edgar Rice Burroughs' literary prehistoric world in the center of the earth.
Ran by J. Eric and Chris Holmes.
- 'Devil's Spire' ran by Len Lakofka. Send Dispater back to the plane of Dis.
- 'Dungeon Free-for-All' Every man for himself doing battle with other
players.
- 'Dungeon Wars Extraordinaire'. Six parties simultaneously go into
the dungeon to face the horrors of Daltmere Halls but only one can get
out alive.
- 'The Embassy of the Pale' by Len Lakofka. Parties are recruited by
the Baron Ratik who seeks to attack the Bone March.
- 'Fez II' Teams must rescue the mage Fez from another fine mess.
Later published by Mayfair Games. Fez was run at Gen Con 13.
- 'Fourth Annual Dungeon Wars' 2 teams must find one another
in the dungeon and do mortal battle.
- 'Giants on the Earth' by Tom Moldvay. Based on Dragon Mag feature of
the same name. Choose your favorite character to play. D&D?
- 'In Search of the Lavender Dragon'
- 'Kill, Kill, Kill' TSR worlds collide with teams from D&D, Boot Hill,
Gamma World, Top Secret, AD&D and Star Frontiers battle it out
in a remote location. Judged by Paul Reich, Erol Otus and Lawrence Schick.
- 'Lair in the Cloud Giant Feor' by Len Lakofka. Explore castle on the Island
of Voleax in the Northern Spindrift Isles.
- 'Lair of the Swamp Thing'
- 'Night in the Druids Forest' ran by Helen Cook.
- 'Outposts of the Forgotten Lands' by Jean Wells.
- 'Valley of the Mounds- second edition'
- 'The Venom Set' described as "newly released module will be using the
D&D Companion Supplement (15th-36th level characters)". Our information shows
this mentioning the Companions Rules set published 2 years later in 1983. Any thoughts?
- 'Wizard and the Witch' by Len Lakofka. Ran the previous year.
- Official RPGA AD&D tournament. Coordinated by Frank Mentzer and
judged by TSR staff. Supposedly played as a the 2nd official RPGA
tourney with either R3 'The Egg of Phoenix' and/or R4 'Doc's Island'
used in the tourney. Both were later published by TSR. We think the
1st Official RPGA Tourney was held earlier in the summer at Gen Con East
in Cherry Hill, NJ.

RPGA makes its Gen Con debut this year with a tournament and members
only meetings and seminar hosted by Frank Mentzer.

Features and seminars include the Auction, Computers in Fantasy Gaming Workshop and a
Flea Market (rent a table and sell your used games).

Please write us with any more information. We are particularly
interested in hearing if any of the mentioned D&D scenerios ring a
bell with anyone with respects to later published modules by TSR or
other. Contact us.
