Collector's Arcana: According to Ryan Dancey's researches after WOTC took over TSR, the company had lost
money on each encyclopedia sold, because production cost was too high.
Author slade had already prepared a master index for
magical items, the Magic Encyclopedia 1 (1992) and 2 (1993).
These items contained references to which product the magical items were introduced, but without detailed descriptions.
The Encyclopedia Magica series contains very detailed descriptions, plus lots of black and white illustrations and full-page color
paintings.
In the credits section, Author slade thanks TSR dinosaur James M. Ward for his chuckle, when Ward heard, that slade got the project.
An interior painting is featured in our Original Art Gallery.qq
We believe that either print run or sales of this 4th Volume was considerably lower than the others. It is uncommon to find and
the value is still par with cover price.
