"Teldin Moore's magical amulet allows him to "see" through the eyes of the great ship
Spelljammer, across the wilds of space. Following clues from an ancient gnomish library and the vision
he sees, he traces the mighty craft through the crystal spheres. He employs's his magical cloak's powers
and discovers his quarry's home, but Teldin's cloak - and the possibility it could give him
control over the Spelljammer - continues to draw enemies, often in the guise of friends.
Will he survive long enough to face the final danger that awaits him at the point of the Spelljammer's
origin - the Broken Sphere?"

The Tome of Treasures Rating:
The title is a little misleading, since Teldin Moore searches for the Broken Sphere, but finds it only at the
end of the novel. Nigel Findley chose to tell his story differently than in his first novel Into the void,
second in the Spelljammer circle. The story builds up slow, yet not uninteresting. Teldin Moore's exploration of
space is written in the best tradition of Asimov, with gripping tension building up at the right moments and
before it gets boring. As in all previous Spelljammer novels, Teldin Moore and his magical cloak are hunted by
some evil enemy and again a traitor is placed in his inner circle. So far, the story reveals nothing new and lacks
innovation. However, Findley's variation of the classic lonesome hero theme and his remarkable style of writing makes up
for this. This is the novel which makes it worth to have read the previous one.
Conclusion:
Interesting cocktail of space fantasy and science fiction. Fans will appreciate it. (RALF TOTH)
