He's asking way too much. He wouldn't receive Acaeum values if he sold it on eBay, properly advised, as some of the items are overrated, IMHO. And seperately sold with great pictures and advertising, this is the absolute maximum one could reach. So, if he's going to bulk sell it, he should give 25% discount at least. Good timing though. I wonder if he's going to give up steering the Acaeum soon?

I can't find any discussion of this sale on the forums. I think guys are just in shock about what is going on. I realize he hasn't bought anything in a very long time. So I am not sure as to the extent his interest is waning if at all. Curious times.

Well, he is about to sell his collection. What more do we need to know?

True that. I wonder who would be heir to the throne? Curious times!

I do not think he will sell his collection unless he offers a deep discount. That is the idea behind selling in bulk. It is simply not realistic and not appropriate to ask for an additional percentage for 2 years of appreciating value....up front!! huh

Price looks way too high, but I don't know the extent of his collection. A reseller can't expect to make money on that, so the buyer could only be a collector. That surely would make a nice addition (!) to a collection, but $35K...

Like Adam, my main surprise is the complete lack of reactions in the forum. Only one line, from Franck, that's short.

I know it will come as a big surprise, but I've gotten two notices from Acaeum members about this opportunity, Paul T., who's a friend, and Mike D., a friend of Scott's. Considering the amount of money I've dropped this year, I can't help but wonder if someone has me in mind.

And yes, it is too high.

It is curious how collectors tend to over value their collections. I think we are attempting to but a price tag on our feelings about the hobby rather than thinking in practical selling terms. No one has $35K in disposible cash to burn on this stuff on a whim, else there would be stories about these sorts of purchases going on all the time.

You see in the ad what he has. It is rather limited in terms of quantity and decent in high end quality. I think 18K is the appropriate asking price on this item and it still might not even fetch a buyer.

I am tempted to ask whether he wants to change it versus a nearly complete 2nd Edition collection ... aaaaharharharhar...

Man, I hope I never have to sell mine. It would break my heart to see how little it is really worth.

Reminds me of the time Rhea Shelley wanted like 50k for his complete set of Adventurer's Guild. Laughing

I bet he still has them.

a2jeff is interested (and he certainly has been known bid high!) However, he doesn't want everything and was looking for a trustworthy partner (reseller) to go in with him and take a share of the "commons".

My pockets aren't that deep! I suggested he try Badmike.

So, at least someone with Deep Pockets is considering it.

It sounds to me like Scott doesn't really want to sell it all that much and will only do so if he can get a price he can't refuse.

It would be tough for a reseller to take a bit out of it since Foul is looking for a seller premium over maximum market value.

I would be really surprised if someone takes a bite out of that one. Better to just hunker down and keep picking them off of other sources.
